Thanks for the comments on superman! He was scanned into the computer, then I cleaned the lines up by using Adobe Photoshop. So I adjusted it using 'levels'. I then created a few layers and used a different layer for each colour. I also got the painted look by teaking the image to Corel Painter'. Your best bet is to use the photoshop tutorials that deviant art have as there are great ones for beginners and intermediate.
